The purpose of the festival is to revive the show of the sacred art as a spiritual experience, which has always been in the Christian tradition before the secularization, even though in different ways depending on the historical periods and the contexts. The art as spiritual way is already in the title the first stage of a journey that will continue in the coming years.

Varallo with its Sacred Mount is a unicum in the Italian panorama: a center of artistic life active for at least four centuries -after the end of the 15th to the end of the 18th century- in the production of a particular type of sacred art, very clearly aimed to give the possibility to the faithful to live, even in the form that today we would call virtual , the experience of the pilgrimage in the Holy Land, a travel increasingly dangerous after the Moslem conquest.
